Wimberley falls:

Three-time defending champion Wimberley had Needville on the ropes in the Region IV-3A final. The Texans were at match point, leading 14-13 when Needville's Katie McGuire nailed three-straight kills as the Jays closed out a 25-16, 20-25, 19-25, 25-16, 16-14 victory to earn a trip to state.

After losing the first game, Wimberley won the next two and had an 8-4 lead in the fourth. But Needville's Stephanie Cook stepped up with a nine-point service run and propelled the Jays into the deciding fifth game, setting up McGuire's late heroics and a trip to San Marcos next week. .... from the San Antonio Express News
